The Global Energy Startup Program

The Free Electrons program connects the most disruptive startups with 10 of the largest energy utilities in the world.  Participants get together for 4 one week long modules held accross the globe to work closely and collaboratively over the course of one year.

During each module the Free Electrons community of experts and mentors support the startups to jump start their business through one-on-one meetings and structured group sessions. Startups refine their value proposition, trial and test technology and gain access to invaluable resources, advice and support from around the globe.

Startups are in the running for the prize of $200,000USD – no strings attached.

Free Electrons Module 3: connecting the Energy Ecosystem

The digital Free Electrons journey began 10 months ago. The final event of this edition, Module 3 – digital Singapore marks an important milestone, proving the program has risen above all adversities. In what has been a difficult year of navigating the unknown, we are proud to bring everyone together to celebrate a triumphant year of learning & innovation, fostering knowledge, accomplishing results, making progress and above all of moving forward in the face of uncertainty.

So let’s take advantage of this new digital format to unite the Energy Ecosystem through a global networking event across time zones and across industries – lets connect  Utilities, FE2020 Startups, Alumni, VC’s, Experts, Governmental Institutions, Academia, Journalists, & Corporates alike to do something great.

After 7 months of this digital FE Journey we’ll bring the 15 Startups of the 2020 cohort to stage so that they can pitch their technology, their journey and their long term vision under three main topics: SENSING THE GRID, SMART CITIES and SMART TOOLS & RENEWABLES & EFFICIENCY. Check the finalists here and make sure you put this session in your agenda to get to know who is changing the course of the Energy sector.

ECOSYSTEM HANDS ON

Let’s take advantage of the digital format. This a call to action to the Energy Ecosystem! We invite different perspectives, experiences, and knowledge to join what will be a hands-on workshop. There will be four main topics from which you are invited to choose:

  • Data in Energy – “How can data be used to bring new value in the energy market” // moderated by Mafalda Freitas
  • Energy in Cities – “How will cities generate & manage energy in the future” // moderated by Assunção Cruz
  • Paths Towards Green Energy and Carbon Neutrality – “What possible paths are there for carbon neutrality and green only energy in our sector?” // moderated by Cláudia Ferreira
  • Energy in mobility – “What are the opportunities for the energy industry in the mobility sector? // moderated by Manuel Tânger

The greatest minds in the energy sector can collectively look into what may seem the same old challenges with different perspectives, think outside the box, go beyond what is apparent and come up with futuristic solutions. Together we can design better energetic ways – for all!

From more than 800 applications from all over the world, this cohort of FE2020 represents the best of the best in the energy sector. They are experts in their field and we want to put them in the Spotlight. This session will run in 3 parallel panels: Data in the Energy Industry, Future of Renewable Energy, and Sustainability in Business: myth, madness, or must?. These sessions will be moderated by the Utilities. Not a David vs Golias, but more of we are all in this together! You don’t want to miss it!

Synopsis: 2020 is said to have been a challenging year for businesses. The spread of covid-19 dealt a severe, unexpected shock that impacted people and markets around the globe. Many businesses are wondering how to navigate the demand and supply shocks, and thinking, what’s next? Hear from top VCs in the energy sector on their Global and Asia insights on navigating such periods of uncertainty and volatility, and how innovation remains key for a green and sustainable recovery.

In the Startup Ecosystem, the venture capitalists have the knowledge, the money and the power to fuel innovation. These are the experts who have eyes on startups and in the future. Under the topic: “Energy Investment opportunities through the lens of covid-19 pandemic” we will have four incredible experts who will take us on this journey:
